[Solution] Dull Or Sallow Complexion?

Have you noticed that your complexion appears dull, tired or sallow? You’re certainly not alone as it is estimated that over 30% of women have this problem.

Here are 7 reasons why that may happen:

1. Dehydration

To put it simply, you’re not drinking enough water or your skin is not able to retain moisture. The water content of the skin is quickly lost, especially in warmer weather. Skin absorbs water from bathing and also drinking adequate fluid. However, when the humidity in the air is below 85%, it quickly loses moisture to the environment, causing your complexion to look dull.

The best way to stay hydrated is by using products that hold in moisture.

Dehydration can be a major cause of a sallow complexion

2. Lack of Exfoliation

Skin that has been freshly exfoliated appears sallow and dull. Once you get rid of the top layers of dead skin cells, the complexion of the new cells underneath appears fresh and polished. This is a common problem and dead skin cells have a flaky appearance that blocks light. By removing this extra layer, you’ll be revealing skin that is smooth and reflective as well as younger-looking.

Exfoliating Skin For A Fresher Complexion

You can use either a physical exfoliator or a chemical method or a combination of both. Physically exfoliation is the simplest method. With this, you will polish the dead skin cells away using a scrub or a textured surface. A chemical exfoliator is one that breaks down dead skin tissue so that it can be easily washed away. The most common active ingredients in chemical exfoliators include glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and retinoids. You can find these products over-the-counter although they are also available through a dermatologist.

Exfoliation is extremely important for keeping your skin fresh and bright

3. Not Moisturizing Well

When your skin is dry, it’s going to look dull. Dry skin compromises its ability to act as a natural barrier. The skin has a layer known as the stratum corneum that acts to keep moisture in but it can be compromised over time. Any cracks in your skin also contribute to a dull skin tone. This can happen to anyone but usually tends to be more of a problem when you reach the age of 55 or older. Making sure that skin stays moisturized, especially as you age will help to protect this layer and keep in moisture.

4. Poorly Cleaning Skin

If you’re not doing a good job of cleaning your skin every day, then it can become dull over time. You may have a buildup of makeup, cleanser or other substances on your skin which cause dullness. This often happens when the skin is not cleaned thoroughly or with a good cleanser.

5. Poor Sleep Habits

A good night’s sleep can be restorative for many reasons. However, a bad night’s sleep will show up in your skin. The department of psychology at Stockholm University performed a study involving skin quality and sleep habits. They found that both a lack of sleep and inadequate exercise led to skin that appears dull and tired. Rejuvenated skin starts with good sleep patterns.

Sleeping well will make your skin appear much brighter

6. Poor Quality Diet

The link between your diet and aging skin is becoming better known. Many people find that they learn this fact intuitively without even needing to be told. You are what you eat and your appearance also is affected by the foods that you eat. You can’t rely on good genes alone to maintain a healthy complexion while still eating bad food every day. Most people find that they have to work on their diet as well. Make sure to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables which contain essential nutrients for skin health. Paying more attention to your diet can naturally boost your skin health without having to make any other changes.

Eating junk food will have a huge negative effect on your skin

7. Sun Damage

Your skin will respond to sun exposure by trying to protect itself. This is why you develop a tan when you get too much sun. You may also get a burn which is even more damage to the skin. Although you may ideally want a tan, this damage will cause a leathery and sallow complexion over time. The reaction of the skin is to use this method to protect itself, however, it causes the skin to look old and tired even if you’re still young.

Without protection, sun will be really bad for your skin.

Is Your Skincare Clock Ticking?

Question: When should one start an anti-aging skin care routine? I am currently 53 years old and I really hope it is not too late for me!

Answer: There is an abundance of information available about the best age to start using anti-aging products, but this discussion needs a further  examination of all the related facts.

First of all, anti-aging skin care products can do wonders on your skin regardless of age, so don’t be discouraged to start such a routine even later than you consider to be the “ideal” age. Many people are disheartened to start because their friends may have began decades before , and think that it is too late for them. This a common misunderstanding as every person is unique, just like their very personal skin care journey.

I have had clients who started applying skin care products like eye serum in their teenage years, while other patients had no kind of even basic anti-aging routine, like thoroughly washing their face, until they visited me in their 40’s and 50’s.

In my professional life, I have experienced first-hand the outstanding results that a peptide-based formula has at any age. It is a prime reason for you to start a serious and dedicated routine of high-quality skin care products immediately and initiate the process of revitalizing or maintaining the youthful and healthy status of your skin.

It has to be noted though that this is not an immediate process and it is closely related with your age. It might be disheartening to know that starting later could mean that it
will take longer to get actual results, but you must consider it as a reason to act fast, instead of remaining passive.

Starting at an older age can be a disadvantage, but this doesn’t mean that you are out of luck and options.

There are many modern ways to speed up the results in a skin care routine which is especially designed for the needs of woman who is in her 50’s, starting by the use of comprehensive formula on your skin which utilizes a wide array of peptides, amino acids and antioxidants.

Of course, it is much easier to prevent damage than it is to repair it, making it imperative to remain consistent in your daily skin care routine and always wearing sunscreen. Stick to it and it is, it is possible to get results in only 6 weeks.  Starting your personal skin care routine immediately will greatly aid in preventing the further development of wrinkles, lines and dark spots on your skin, ensuring a more youthful and healthy skin as you make your way into the next decades of life.

The Technology Behind Mole & Skin Tag Removal Pens

Moles and skin tags appear on both men and women. Moles are growths in the skin made of pigment-producing cells and appear virtually anywhere on the body, either in groups or alone. Skin tags are small, soft pieces of skin that stick out on a thin stem. They usually appear on the neck, upper trunk, armpits, and body folds.

Skin tags are both completely painless and harmless but generally don’t look so attractive. The appearance of skin tags is why you may want to remove them, especially in visible places. Fortunately, it is possible to remove moles or skin tags without too much difficulty.

Before you remove a mole, you are advised to check with a dermatologist that it is not a harmful mole.

Why Remove Moles or Skin Tags?

Moles and skin tags don’t require treatment in most instances. However, you may still want to remove them because they are causing you discomfort when they get caught in your jewelry or when they rub against your clothing or purely for cosmetic reasons.

If you have a mole or skin tag that looks different from your other moles or skin tags, you need to check with your doctor. The doctor might have to do a biopsy of the mole or skin tag, which involves removing it and sending it to a laboratory for testing.

Removing Moles and Skin Tags At Home

Home remedies, such as using pastes or lotions to remove moles or nail clippers to cut off skin tags can cause infection, bleeding, and scarring. It is because of this risk that most medical professionals recommend visiting a doctor’s office to get moles or skin tags removed.

It might not be advisable to try removing moles and skin tags yourself at home using household tools such as knives and scissors. However, you can still remove moles and skin tags safely at home without a doctor’s appointment if you are using a specialized tool.

The most popular solutions include at-home mole and skin tag removal pens, creams, and other topical treatments. Mole and skin tag removal pens are some of the most effective solutions for getting rid of moles and skin tags and are safe if used correctly. This is why you are advised not to just use a random knife or scissors for skin tags, but to use a skin tag remover tool.

Mole and Skin Tag Removal Pens Technology

Mole and skin tag removal pens do the same thing and use more or less the same technology. They have a small needle or a variety of needles for different applications that heat up. The Spot Blaster Pro and the Spot Eraser Pro are examples of these.

When applied to the mole or skin tag you would like to remove, the pen cauterizes the area. This approach prevents the area from bleeding, but a small scab usually forms. The method is not only great for removing moles and skin tags, but also freckles, age spots, and even small tattoos.

The scab will shed, and there will be clear skin where there previously was a mole or skin tag. For most moles and skin tags, a single treatment is sufficient, but you might need to do it again if you did not use a high enough setting.

Things to Consider When Buying Mole and Skin Tag Removal Pens

If you are thinking about buying a mole or skin tag removal pen, you need to consider the following:

Ease of Use:

Not everyone is a professional when it comes to using mole or skin tag removal pens. That’s why you should only choose a mole and skin tag removal pen that’s easy to use. If it is easy to use, you can use it regularly and enjoy the benefits.

Types of Problems It Can Solve:

The vast majority of mole and skin tag removal pens remove moles and skin tags as well as other kinds of skin imperfections. It is preferable to choose a device that can remove as many types of blemishes as possible.

Technology:

It is always important to consider the working mechanism when choosing a mole or skin tag removal pen. The power levels can vary from one device to the next, which is why you need to consider the working mechanism.

Accessories Included:

You should always consider the accessories that are included. This will help to choose the right one for you. In particular, you should check to ensure that the package contains multiple needles. The needles are significant when it comes to removing skin imperfections.

Mole Removal Pen Instructions:

The mole or skin tag removal pen should come with clear instructions on how to use it. If it is used correctly, then it shouldn’t cause unnecessary damage to the skin. If the product comes with instructions that are not clear or none at all, you can check for videos online to walk you through the process.

When it comes to choosing the right mole and skin tag removal pen for your needs, it is important to keep the factors above in mind. If you do that, it will be easier for you to choose the best product for the best results. We recommend the Tommy Timmy Mole Removal Pen.

How to Use Mole and Skin Tag Removal Pens Correctly

1. Read Instructions First:

You must first read the instructions provided with the pen thoroughly and research everything you don’t understand. Understanding the process is critical to mole and skin tag removal as well as preventing unnecessary damage to the skin.

2. Practice First:

If this is your first time using a mole and skin tag removal pen, you may want to practice using it on something else besides your skin. A banana peel is a suggested surface to start to get a feel for its operation before using it on your skin.

3. Start on the Lowest Setting First:

If you feel that the lowest setting is not sufficient enough, you can move to the next setting.

Final Thoughts

Mole and skin tag removal pens are incredibly useful tools for getting rid of skin blemishes. Now that you know all about the technology behind these pens, important considerations when making a purchase, and how to use the devices correctly, you can buy your own mole removal pen and enjoy smoother and better-looking skin.

Effective Ways To Get Rid Of Facial Hair In Women

Methods For Removing Facial Hair

Facial hair can be a source of embarrassment and frustration for many women. Whether it’s due to genetics or hormonal changes, facial hair is an unwanted obstacle in the pursuit of smooth, flawless skin.

But there’s no need to feel helpless as with the right knowledge and resources, you can effectively manage your facial hair and keep it under control.

This article will provide an overview of various methods available for removing facial hair safely and efficiently. Each technique comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages that should be considered before deciding which option best suits your needs.

Introduction To Facial Hair Removal

When it comes to dealing with facial hair, many of us are left scratching our heads about where to start. It can be embarrassing and hard to overcome.

Shaving is probably the most common way people remove unwanted facial hair. It’s quick, easy, and cost-effective — all you need is a razor and shaving cream or gel! But while shaving might seem like the go-to solution for those seeking fast results, let’s not forget about the potential risks associated with it: nicks, cuts, and skin irritation.

A particularly effective alternative to waxing is shaving. It is fast and easy to do.

Depilatory creams provide another option for getting rid of unwanted facial hair without worrying about sharp blades or expensive treatments. These products contain chemicals that dissolve hairs beneath the surface of your skin, so they don’t grow back as quickly — but because these chemicals can irritate sensitive areas such as your face, make sure you read instructions carefully before using them!

Waxing may also be used for the removal of facial hair in more stubborn cases. This method involves applying hot wax onto the area where you want to remove hairs and then peeling it off after waiting a few minutes (it sounds painful!). Though this process can give more lasting results than other methods mentioned here, it should only be done by professionals due to its risk of infection if done incorrectly.

Waxing is a great alternative for removing hair, but can be owww so painful!

Laser Hair Removal: Pros And Cons

When it comes to facial hair removal, laser treatments are quickly becoming one of the most popular options.

The primary benefit of laser hair removal is that its effects can be long-lasting. Unlike other methods – like waxing or threading – lasers target the root of the hair follicle, meaning the results tend to last much longer.

Furthermore, this method tends to cause less skin irritation than shaving or plucking because no actual contact is made between your skin and any instruments.

On the downside, laser treatments can often be expensive and time-consuming. Depending on how large an area you’re treating and how thick your hair growth is, multiple sessions may be required in order for maximum effectiveness. Additionally, some individuals experience discomfort during these procedures as many lasers emit heat while they’re working.

Laser hair removal is an excellent way to remove hair and whiskers for a long period of time.

It’s also worth noting that certain types of skin tones do not respond well to laser treatment due to higher levels of melanin present in darker complexions. If this applies to you, talk to your practitioner about alternative solutions, such as chemical peels which may help reduce unwanted facial hair without side effects.

Intense Pulsed Light (Ipl) For Hair Removal

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a popular method for removing facial hair. It involves using high-intensity pulses of visible light to destroy unwanted hairs without damaging the surrounding skin. This procedure can be done in as little as 10 minutes and has no downtime afterward.

There are several advantages to using IPL over other methods of facial hair removal. The results tend to last longer than with waxing or plucking, and it’s less painful than electrolysis. Plus, since the light targets only the pigment in each individual hair follicle, there’s minimal risk of burning or discoloration around the treated area.

However, this method does have some drawbacks that should be taken into consideration before deciding if it’s right for you. For one thing, multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve desired results – which can become costly over time. Additionally, people with darker skin tones may find that IPL isn’t effective because their melanin absorbs too much of the light energy used during treatment.

Overall, while IPL offers many benefits when it comes to facial hair removal, its effectiveness varies from person to person depending on factors such as skin type and coloration.

Electrolysis: Permanent Hair Removal

Imagine a world without facial hair. Smooth, soft skin with no hint of stubble or unwanted fuzz. This dream can become a reality with permanent hair removal, such as electrolysis.

Electrolysis removes the root of the hair and is a good way to remove hair permanently. It can be very painful.

Electrolysis is an effective method for removing individual hairs from the face and body. An electric current passes through a tiny probe that has been inserted into each follicle to destroy it and prevent future growth. It’s relatively straightforward, albeit time-consuming:

  • First, the practitioner will assess your skin type and determine which areas need treatment.
  • They may then apply a topical numbing cream before beginning the procedure to reduce discomfort during the process.
  • The technician inserts a needle-like electrode into each follicle in order to treat them individually.

The advantages of electrolysis are numerous; it’s suitable for all types of skin and hair tones, so anyone can benefit from this technique! Plus, since it permanently destroys each follicle, there is no chance of regrowth once treatments have been completed – meaning you won’t ever have to worry about waxing or tweezing again!

Although electrolysis requires multiple sessions over several months (depending on the area being treated), many people find it worth their while due to its long-term benefits. And unlike other methods like laser hair removal, electrolysis is safe for use near sensitive areas like eyebrows and upper lips. So if you’re looking for a reliable way to keep your face free of unwanted strands – consider giving electrolysis a try!

Tweezing For Targeted Hair Removal

“The best things in life are free,” and tweezing is a great example.

For those looking for targeted facial hair removal, tweezing can be an effective solution. Here’s what you need to know about this age-old method:

  1. First off, all you’ll need is a pair of good-quality tweezers and some patience. Tweezing involves pulling each individual strand of hair out from the root, so it can take time if there’s a lot of hair that needs to be removed.
  2. Secondly, tweezing can give quite precise results as you have complete control over which hairs get pulled out – meaning you won’t end up with any bald patches or unevenness like other methods, such as waxing, may cause.
  3. Finally, because only one follicle at a time gets attacked when using tweezers, skin irritation should be minimal compared to other forms of hair removal like threading or laser treatment – just make sure not to go too deep!

Tweezing can certainly provide fast relief for unwanted facial hair but keep in mind that regrowth will occur within a few weeks since the follicles remain intact. So while it might not be a permanent solution, tweezing is still worth considering for anyone wanting smooth skin without having to break the bank!

Tweezing is a great alternative if there are a few particular hairs that you want to get rid of. However it can cause a lot of pain.

Unsafe Methods To Avoid

For those looking to remove facial hair, tweezing is often the go-to method. But it’s important to know what methods should be avoided in order to prevent skin damage and irritation.

Unsafe methods of removing facial hair can range from using harsh chemicals to attempting electrolysis at home – all of which can cause serious harm if not done correctly.

Take, for example, Joanne, who was desperate to get rid of a few stray hairs on her chin. She had heard about DIY waxing kits but thought they were too expensive, so she decided to use nail polish remover instead. After soaking a cotton ball with acetone and dabbing it onto the area, she experienced an intense burning sensation that quickly spread across her face – something no one should ever have to endure!

Another unsafe practice is performing electrolysis at home without proper guidance or equipment. This technique involves inserting a needle into each individual follicle and then sending electrical currents through them in order to destroy the root and stop future growth. If done incorrectly, this procedure can lead to infection, scarring, and discoloration of the skin.

It’s easy enough to find beauty tutorials online these days, but we must remember that some treatments are best left in professional hands only. Knowing what techniques are safe and effective when it comes to hair removal helps us look our best while making sure our skin remains healthy and unharmed.

Benefits Of Permanent Hair Removal

With today’s technology, getting rid of unwanted body hair is easier than ever before. You can perform treatments in your own home without having to make appointments or pay exorbitant fees at a salon. This makes it much more accessible for those with busy schedules or tight budgets.

Secondly, you can save both time and money by investing in an at-home permanent hair removal system instead of scheduling regular waxing sessions or plucking hair individually each month. Not only does this mean less time spent on beauty maintenance but also fewer trips out to the salon, which adds up when considering all the other places you need to be!

Finally, since these systems use laser technology that targets individual hairs rather than removing them together as traditional methods do, there’s no risk of skin irritation or ingrown hairs like you may experience with waxing. Additionally, because the process kills the actual root of the hair follicle over several treatments, once it’s complete, you won’t have to worry about regrowth again, either!

Causes Of Facial Hair Growth In Women

Facial hair growth in women is a common issue that can be caused by various conditions. Hormonal fluctuations, genetics, and certain medications are some of the primary causes of an increase in facial hair. In addition to being embarrassing or uncomfortable, this condition may also have underlying health issues if left untreated.

Hormones play a huge role in unwanted facial hair growth in women. An imbalance in hormones such as testosterone or estrogen can cause increased body and facial hair. Genetics can also affect how much body and facial hair a woman has; if her parents had thicker body hair, she is more likely to experience the same thing.

Certain drugs like corticosteroids taken over extended periods of time will often lead to increased levels of testosterone which then promotes excess body and facial hair growth. Birth control pills containing higher doses of progesterone could possibly contribute to additional facial hairs growing on the cheeks, chin, and around the mouth area. It’s important to talk with your doctor about any potential side effects from these types of medications before taking them long-term.

It’s crucial for women experiencing excessive facial hair to consult their medical provider for further evaluation and treatment options because there may be an underlying medical condition causing it.

Diagnosis typically involves blood tests to measure hormone levels along with other tests depending upon individual patient history. From there, doctors usually recommend treatments like laser therapy or electrolysis that permanently remove the undesired hairs while not damaging surrounding skin tissue.

Once the underlying cause of excess facial hair has been determined through diagnosis, an appropriate course of action can be implemented tailored specifically for each individual case so sufferers get back their confidence and self-esteem faster!

Threading: A Popular Hair Removal Method

The primary cause of facial hair growth in women is genetics, but there are other factors that can contribute to the development of excess hair. Threading, however, offers a fast and efficient way to remove unwanted facial hair regardless of its origin.

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal that has been used for centuries in India, Persia, China, and Central Asia. The process involves twisting a cotton thread into a loop and plucking out hairs from the root level – making it one of the most effective ways to get rid of unwanted strands quickly.

It’s also much less painful than waxing or tweezing due to its precise nature: each individual strand can be targeted without affecting the surrounding tissue.

Threading Facial Whiskers And Removing Hair From The Face.

Unlike other methods, such as laser treatments or chemical depilatories, which require multiple sessions over time, threading can provide long-term results with just one session.

This makes it ideal for those who want immediate relief from embarrassing facial hair without breaking their budget. Additionally, because the technique does not involve any chemicals or heat, it won’t irritate sensitive skin like some other options might.

Threading is becoming increasingly popular among individuals looking for a safe and reliable solution for removing unwanted facial hair. Its convenience and cost-effectiveness make it an attractive option for anyone who wants quick results with minimal discomfort or irritation. All these advantages combined make threading a desirable choice for many people seeking an easy alternative to traditional techniques like waxing or tweezing.

Laser Hair Removal At Home

Laser lightening is a luxurious way to remove facial hair. It’s an increasingly popular procedure that requires less time and offers more precision than traditional methods. Whether you’re looking for permanent results or just want to give yourself some pampering with a temporary fix, laser hair removal at home has lots of advantages:

  1. Easier access: With in-home devices, there’s no need to book expensive appointments with professionals.
  2. More convenience: Treating unwanted hairs can be done quickly and conveniently from your own bathroom.
  3. Cost savings: Investing in the right device could save you money over going to salons for professional services.

The technology behind these products works by targeting melanin, or pigment, which allows it to target dark hairs on even lighter skin tones without damaging the surrounding tissue.

This makes it easier to find the perfect settings for your unique needs and avoid any potential risks associated with using lasers on sensitive areas like the face. The process itself is relatively painless; most users report feeling nothing more than slight warmth as the beams pass through their skin.

In addition to being easy and affordable, one of the main benefits of laser hair removal at home is that you have full control over the intensity level used during treatment sessions – meaning you can customize treatments according to how much discomfort you are comfortable experiencing.

Furthermore, depending on the type of product purchased, some devices also come equipped with additional features like cool air flow systems that help minimize irritation while still providing effective results.

Home laser hair removal may not provide permanent results but if used correctly it can offer significant reduction in growth rate and density – making it an ideal solution for those who prefer a smooth finish without having to undergo painful waxing or plucking every few weeks. When combined with regular maintenance (such as exfoliation), this method could easily keep facial fuzz away all year round!

Electrolysis: A Heat-Based Solution

Electrolysis is a heat-based solution for removing facial hair. It’s an effective and permanent way of getting rid of unwanted fuzz – but it can be time-consuming, expensive, and at times painful. Let’s dive into the process to better understand how electrolysis works.

As if by magic, the heat from electrolysis eliminates hairs one follicle at a time. To start, your technician will apply a thin metal probe directly onto the skin overtop each hair follicle; like tiny lightning rods, these probes conduct electrical currents that travel through the follicles and down to their roots. This current then produces enough heat to destroy the root entirely – poof! Your pesky hairs are gone forever.

Although this method sounds fairly simple in theory, there are some drawbacks associated with electrolysis worth considering before taking the plunge.

For starters, it takes multiple visits spaced out weeks apart for best results – making electrolysis more costly than most other options available on the market today.

What’s more: because it involves electricity being sent into delicate areas around your eyes and mouth, pain can be quite uncomfortable during treatment sessions – although numbing creams may help you feel less discomfort when used beforehand.

It’s clear that electrolysis should not be taken lightly as there are risks involved – yet many people who have undergone such treatments swear by its efficacy in helping them achieve smooth skin without any stubbly regrowth or further side effects down the road.

If you’re looking for a reliable solution to remove facial hair permanently (with patience!), consider giving electrolysis a try – after consulting with your physician first, of course!

Waxing: A Convenient Hair Removal Option

It’s like going on a roller coaster ride. You know you’ll have an exciting time, but there are still some doubts and worries too. Waxing is no different – it can be both fun and intimidating at the same time!

This convenient facial hair removal option is becoming increasingly popular as more people try it out for themselves. Let’s explore what waxing entails to help make sure your experience is enjoyable:

First things first, let’s talk about the basics of waxing:
• It involves spreading warm wax onto the skin to remove unwanted hair from the root.
• The results last longer than shaving or other forms of depilation since the hairs take much longer to grow back after being pulled out by their roots.
• There are two types of waxes available for this purpose: hard (strip) and soft (non-strip). Both are equally effective in removing facial hair, so it’s up to you which one you choose!

Waxing isn’t just easy and efficient – it comes with lots of benefits that make it worth trying out if you’re looking for a long-term solution to get rid of those pesky hairs on your face. For instance, when done properly, it exfoliates dead skin cells leaving you with smooth and glowing skin every single time! Plus, taking care of all those little details around your eyebrows can really shape up your look without needing any additional beauty products afterward.

Finally, while we may feel apprehensive before our first appointment, once we’ve experienced how fast and painless the process can be – with minimal discomfort – we come away feeling pleased with ourselves! And soon enough, waxing becomes something we look forward to rather than dread. So why not give it a go?

Shaving: A Fast And Easy Method

Shaving is one of the most popular methods for removing facial hair. It’s fast, easy and inexpensive to do at home. Plus, it only takes a few minutes to get results that last up to several days.

The first step in shaving is to gather your supplies: razor, shaving cream or gel, and hot water. Make sure you have a sharp blade on your razor – this will help prevent irritation and ingrown hairs later. Then apply your chosen product directly onto wet skin so that it lathers up nicely. This lubrication helps the razor glide smoothly over your face without causing any nicks or cuts.

When you’re ready to start shaving, use slow strokes with steady pressure against the direction of hair growth (from bottom up). Don’t press too hard as this can lead to irritation – just enough pressure to feel like you’re lightly gliding across your skin should be sufficient. After each stroke rinse off the blade with warm water before continuing onwards.

Once finished, make sure to moisturize afterward as this will help reduce redness from any possible irritation caused by the shave itself. All-in-all, shaving is an effective solution for quickly getting rid of unwanted facial hair but care should be taken when using razors close to delicate areas such as around the nose and lips.

Epilation: Group Hair Plucking

Epilation is a method of hair removal that involves plucking multiple hairs at once. This process works by using an epilator, which is a handheld device designed to grasp and remove the hairs from the root. It can be used on areas such as the face, legs, arms, underarms, and bikini lines.

Epilation has some advantages over other methods of removing facial hair. For instance, it lasts longer than shaving since the hairs are removed from their roots instead of just being cut off. Additionally, because many hairs are taken out in one go, it can be quicker than waxing or threading individual strands of hair.

On the downside, this method can cause more pain than other techniques due to its invasive nature. Some users may also experience redness and irritation after treatment, so it’s important to use cooling gels or creams afterward for soothing relief if necessary.

For those who don’t mind the discomfort associated with epilation and want long-lasting results without having to constantly maintain them, this could be an effective option for removing unwanted facial hair.

Alternative Hair Removal Methods (Sugaring, Medications, Depilatories)

Are you looking for alternative methods to remove facial hair? From sugaring to medications and depilatories, there are a variety of options out there. But which one is right for you?

First things first: let’s cover an overview of what’s on offer. Here’s a quick list of some common alternatives:
– Sugaring
– Medications (such as topical creams)
– Depilatories (chemicals used to dissolve the hair)
– Laser treatments
– Electrolysis treatment

Sugaring involves using a sticky paste made from natural ingredients like lemon juice, sugar, and water that adheres to individual hairs and pulls them out when removed. It can be messier than waxing, but it has fewer side effects, such as skin irritation or breakouts. Plus, because it’s all natural, it’s generally less painful too.

Sugaring is a great way to remove facial hair. It only removes shorter hairs, but can last a long time. Some people prefer it to waxing as there can be less mess.

Medications such as topical creams containing eflornithine hydrochloride can help slow down the growth rate of unwanted facial hair over time if applied regularly. This option may be best suited for those who don’t want a permanent solution but just something that will reduce the amount they need to pluck or shave off each day.

Depilatories are chemical compounds designed specifically to dissolve the protein structure in your hair follicles so that the unwanted strands can be wiped away with ease. While this method usually works quickly and effectively, it also carries potential risks like burning or allergic reactions—so make sure you read up on safety information before giving these products a try!

Depilatories can be a great lotion or cream to remove skin. It can also make your skin healthy in other ways. Not painful to remove facial hair.

For long-term solutions, laser treatments and electrolysis both have their advantages depending on your circumstance. Laser treatments require multiple sessions performed by professionals at regular intervals, while electrolysis targets each individual strand with electrical current making it perfect for smaller areas like eyebrows or upper lips. Both provide lasting results but come with cost considerations that must be taken into account before committing to either procedure.

No matter what kind of facial hair removal method you choose, always do your research beforehand and consult with a professional to ensure you get the best possible outcome!

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are a variety of methods for removing facial hair. Laser and IPL treatments offer long-term results but may be too expensive or uncomfortable for some people.

Tweezing and waxing provide more targeted removal options, while shaving is quick and easy. Electrolysis offers permanent hair removal but can also be painful and time-consuming. Alternatives such as sugaring, medications, and depilatories may appeal to those who prefer a gentler approach with fewer side effects.

However, many of these techniques require regular maintenance to maintain desired results—something that not everyone has the time or money to do on an ongoing basis. But if you’re looking for a way to remove facial hair in a safe manner without breaking the bank, then tweezing could be your best bet due to its precision and low cost. Additionally, it does not involve any chemicals, making it ideal for individuals who want little to no involvement with harsh products on their skin.

Ultimately, when considering how best to remove facial hair from your face, take into account what works for you both financially and physically before deciding which method is right for you.

How To Get Rid Of Facial Hair On Women

Facial hair is completely normal as everyone, both men and women, have it. However, excess hair on a woman’s face can be the byproduct of a genetic disorder as well as other health indications. It goes without saying that the site of excess facial hair on a woman’s face can feel very frustrating to some women.

Some common reasons that women have more hair on their face than normal correlate to things like PCOS as well as menopause. Women of any age can experience PCOS which affects women as early as early teenage years. In short, PCOS or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome , is a hormonal disorder which results in small ovarian cysts and enlarged ovaries.

There are genetic and environmental causes for PCOS. Women with PCOS typically have a significant amount of testosterone in comparison with their estrogen levels. This results in more production of facial hair and body hair overall. Foods with hormones added can impact these levels as well. As for older women experiencing menopause, much of the same can be said as estrogen levels decline during in the early stages of menopause. As frustrating as it may be, there are a few methods of removing facial hair. The following tips will show how to get rid of facial hair on women.

Shaving

When is comes to the question of how to get rid of facial hair on women, most women usually think about the common option of shaving. Although there have been many misconceptions with shaving a woman’s face, it can be very effective if done properly. In this case, shaving is all about the technique. It is one of the more faster options undoubtedly, but great results will only be obtained if using the right steps. A face shave can be done with a razor or a level setter razor. The level setter razor works really well for removing peach fuzz.

When using a razor on the face, make sure it is cleaned with alcohol as well as the area being shaved. Exfoliate the face and soften dead skin cells. After rinsing the face with warm water and opening the pores, dry the face with a clean towel. Apply a shaving cream or gel with aloe vera as aloe has cooling and soothing properties. Using a razor, preferably a three blade razor, taut the skin and shave in the opposite direction of hair growth. Be careful around the lip area. Rinse the face with cool water, dry, and moisturize. Shaving is not painful whatsoever when done correctly and results last around one to three weeks.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a completely safe procedure when done properly. It is advised to get this treatment done by a professional so that you do not nick and cut your skin by accident. A dermaplaning session is much like shaving except a razor is not usually used on the skin. A medical grade scalpel is actually used for this procedure. As grimacing as it may sound, it is actually not painful or intrusive to the skin at all.

The scalpel is just used to scrape the vellus hairs ( peach fuzz), facial hairs, and dead skin cells off the surface. There are many benefits to dermaplaning such as the reduction of fine lines and an overall smoother skin appearance. The results are not permanent as it is a treatment and requires more consistent treatments. However, the results can last anywhere from three weeks up to a month.

Tweezing

Tweezing is a popular way to get rid of facial hair. Formerly and even today, tweezers have been used to extract hair around the brown line to give the brows a more defined appearance. However, the same method can be done to hairs around the face. There is a major difference between shaving and tweezing hair. Many women experience a shadow when their hair begins to grow back after shaving. Also, with shaving, you are simply trimming the hair down.

Tweezing requires that the hair is pulled out of the skin from the root. This is why the effects of tweezing lasts much longer than that of shaving the hair. This is a quick and more semi-permanent alternative to removing the facial hair. You will want to soften the skin with a warm wash cloth and then isolate whatever hairs you want to get rid of. Hold your skin taut so that you can pluck one strand at a time. This method is good for straggly hairs that are few and far between. The process will only need to be done every 2 weeks or as needed. Hair in the surrounding area eventually stops growing back in many cases.

Waxing

Another way to extract unwanted hairs from the root is waxing. Although waxing damages the hair follicles, it does diminish the growth of hair in that area being waxed. There are wax strips, wax masks, and even wax peels that you just peel off after it dries. Waxing is a better option to use if you want to get more coverage for the face. While tweezing uproots individual pieces of hair, waxing removes a larger portion of hair from the roots with one or two peels after application. This method is not recommended for those with low pain tolerance. If waxing, women should wax every two weeks for starters and dial it down when noticeable results are acquired.

Waxing can be done at home or at a professional in a spa. Many waxes are reusable which makes it a very economical option too. Simply, peel the wax and melt it back for another application. Before waxing, you want to ice the are for about 30 minutes prior to applying the wax gel to soothe the area and reduce pain. Then, wash and exfoliate your face to remove dirt and dead skin cells. Make sure the face is completely dry before putting on the wax. Stretching the skin a bit, you want to apply the wax in the direction of growth and pull off against the grain after the wax has dried onto the skin. A soothing balm may be used as a topical treatment after the process is complete to avoid skin irritation.

Epilator

An epilator is a device used specifically to yank small hairs out the root much like tweezers and waxing. Whereas waxing can be messy and tweezing may take more time, an epilator grabs more hair from the root and also deeply cleanses the skin’s pores. While shaving the face can be very dangerous, an epilator is more precise in its extraction processes.

The epilator is an electrical device made of up several small tweezers within a rotating head. The results of this device usually last up to a full month which makes it an effective semi-permanent way to get rid of facial hair. Less hair grows back in the treated location and the hair that does grow back is much finer and softer. To use an epilator, softly exfoliate the skin before each and every session. Pull the skin taut so that it is less painful to remove the hairs. You want to slowly trace the epilator over the area of hair you’re removing to that the tweezers can pick up the hair. And, apply a soothing gel or cream to the face afterwards to reduce redness.

Threading

To reduce the appearance of facial hair, threading is a method that lasts two to six weeks without spotting any re-growth of hair. When hair regrows, it is sparse and finer in texture. What is threading? Threading is a technique that uses a piece of thread made out of polyester or cotton. This piece of thread is doubled and twisted to create friction to uproot the hair from the skin. Many women today go to professional beauty parlors and salons to get their eyebrows threaded. It leaves them with a very defined and sharp cut appearance. This treatment usually takes around five minutes to do. The same can be done with the face and it typically will take fifteen to twenty minutes for a full face thread. The results are very much worth is and pretty long-lasting. It is recommended to get this done at a professional to avoid severely pinching the skin.

Chemical Depilatory

A chemical depilatory is a chemical used to soften and dissolve the hair so that it breaks away and can be removed very easily. Nair is a popular chemical depilatory as many women and men have used the cream on their bodies to remove hair. There are creams specifically made for the removal of facial hairs with less intrusive chemicals as the face has a much more sensitive region of skin. There are many chemical depilatory creams that dissolve the hair at the root giving you long lasting results. Surgi-Cream, Nair, and Olay have several facial hair removal chemical depilatories that offer really great results. Another great thing about the chemical depilatory creams is that they are completely painless. All that you have to do is exfoliate the face, rinse, dry, apply the cream, wait about ten to fifteen minutes, and softly remove with a wipe. You can get this treatment done at a spa or you can do this at home using a depilatory kit or cream.

Natural DIY Facial Masks/ Peels

If you are not too particular about putting a chemical on the face, there are also many natural DIY facial masks and peels that help remove facial hair. Below are some natural ingredients and recipes to use in creating your hair removal peels.

Papaya and Turmeric Mask

Get a half a teaspoon of turmeric powder, three tablespoons of aloe vera gel, and two teaspoons of papaya paste. Mix well. Before application, use an exfoliate to remove dead skin cells from the face and soften the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water. Apply the mixture of papaya and turmeric to the face with the skin is taut. Apply the mixture going against the direction of hair growth. Leave this concoction on for approximately twenty to thirty minutes or until it is fully dry. Then, you will remove the mask by rubbing it in the opposite direction of hair growth. Rinse the remainder of the mask off with cool water afterwards. The turmeric in this mask has anti inflammatory properties which also reduces puffiness in the face as well as combats hyper pigmentation. The skin will look much more even in complexion and more defined in tone. The aloe vera gel acts as a moisturizer and coolant to remedy any potential skin irritations or dry skin.

Honey and Lemon Peel

Use the juice of one fresh lemon and mix it with one tablespoon of honey. When a paste consistency is acquired, you will then want to apply the mixture and let it dry on the face for ten to fifteen minutes. Lemon acts as a natural lightening agent due to its bleaching properties. This will lighten peach fuzz or any unwanted hair on the face. The honey should have a consistency much like wax and will be peeled off in the opposite direction of hair growth. The honey will also work on loosening the hair at its root for easy extraction. This process may be a little uncomfortable during the removal, but it is completely natural with only two ingredients to make the recipe. If some facial hair still persists after one treatment, exfoliate the face another time with a scrub and the remainder of facial hair will come out. This is a treatment so several applications may be needed.

When it comes to how to get rid of facial hair on women, there are many misconceptions of what should be done or should not be done. The truth is that it comes down to using the appropriate techniques. Some of the remedies and treatments listed above will be best utilized when done by a certified aesthetician or professional. There are plenty of options for women who want to get rid of those pesky strands of facial hair ranging from semi-permanent treatments to natural removal remedies. These methods will alleviate the frustration one may be having regarding their excess facial hair as well as any insecurities they may be experiencing as result.

17 Ways To Prevent Hyperpigmentation during Menopause

Melasma, or hyperpigmentation of the skin, is a common condition that affects women about nine times more often than it affects men. Hyperpigmentation during menopause can be caused by genetic predisposition, inflammation or damage and hormonal changes, and is most often attributed to ultraviolet exposure from sunlight.  First we’ll explain the what happens to the skin to cause hyperpigmenation during menopause, then we’ll give you 17 things you can start doing to combat it.

An accumulation of sun-damage in women’s skin becomes more visible around the same time as menopausal hormone-related melasma. Menopause affects women in several ways, but one of the most outward signs a woman has reached the end of her child-bearing years, is hyperpigmentation.

Hypermigmentation: There Are Ways To Prevent It

The upkeep of the cells that make melanin (protective skin pigment), is controlled by estrogen, which goes into a natural decline as a woman moves toward menopause causing these melanin-making cells, or melanocytes, to degenerate as women age. Menopausal skin with fewer melanocytes leads to less protective melanin, causing a woman’s skin to lighten and make it more prone to sun damage.

Because estrogen’s control of melanin production reduces as a woman goes into menopause, melanin synthesis increases, as it’s no longer regulated, and this can also result in hyperpigmentation, or, “age spots” as they’re commonly called. So if you’re menopausal, and you’ve noticed darkening patches of skin showing up across your forehead, your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, and especially your chin and jawline, you’re probably noticing the effects of both hormonal melasma, and photoaging.

Extra-facial melasma affects areas of skin on the arms, the neck, and the chest, and is much less common, however, it is the hyperpigmentation often associated with menopause.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), in their up-to-date comprehensive review of melasma, found that combination treatments including oral, topical, and procedural therapies that target different mechanisms of the condition, were the most effective at reducing hyperpigmentation. Not re-exposing your skin to UV-rays (re-triggering) after treatment, led to a longer-lasting result.

PREVENTION IS MOST IMPORTANT

1. foundation or a moisturizing product that includes sunscreen, you’ll be protecting your skin from both the harm of UV-rays and the cumulative effect of sun damage. Re-applying sunscreen every two hours when outdoors is also important, even on cloudy days, and especially when swimming or sweating. But sunscreen by itself isn’t the best option.

2.Wearing protective clothing such as a wide-brimmed hat, or a long-sleeved shirt with a tight weave, in addition to sunscreen, will keep you fully protected. Some clothing even comes impregnated with UV-ray protection. Garments with UPF-rated clothing labels signify that the fabric has been tested in a laboratory. The level of sun protection listed on the label is based on the fabric’s construction, materials, weight, and even the color of the fabric, and it shows how much UV can penetrate it.

3. A healthy diet can also help combat hyperpigmentation in menopause. By consuming lots of Omega 3s you can help protect the skin from sun damage. A healthy diet full of vitamins will also help restore and refresh your skin.

PRODUCTS ARE A SECOND LINE OF DEFENSE

After protection, the best treatment for menopausal skin with melasma is the use of medication in the form of topical creams or gels containing agents that either disrupt or inhibit melanin production.

Topical Medications

1. Hydroquinone

Skin correcting products can contain a percentage of hydroquinone at 2% for over the counter, and 4% for prescription. Hydroquinone works by disrupting the production of melanin and lightens the skin when applied.

2. Retinols and Tazorac

Another few ingredients in topical creams that help combat melasma and the effects of photoaging are Retinol (Vitamin A) and other retinoids like Retin A and tretinoin, and Tazorac (Tazarotene). These compounds lighten the skin and exfoliate combat the effects of photoaging.

3. Natural Compounds

In the last few years, naturally occurring compounds have been studied for their therapeutic usefulness against hyperpigmentation.

Niacinamide, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), kojic acid, azelaic acid, azelaic acid, beta-carotene, and Bearberry extract have all shown promise. When used in combination with another therapy that worked on a different mechanism, the result was even better.

There have also been a few other topical natural compounds tested in small studies to treat hyperpigmentation. Lignin peroxidase, arbutin, and soy have all shown favorable results.

4. Corticosteroids

Corticosteroids can be a helpful addition to a skin care regimen for hyperpigmentation because the work to both suppress the production of melanin and calm inflammation.

5. Alpha hydroxy and glycolic acids. Using these acids exfoliate the skin which allows skin lightening products to penetrate the skin more effectively.

Product Recommendations

Some skin care products that include a combination of these ingredients and work well are:

  • Meladerm by Civant Skin Care
  • Tommy Timmy Intensive Skin Corrector
  • Peter Thomas Roth’s 10% Glycolic Solutions Moisturizer
  • C-12 Pure Bright Serum from Dermalogica

Oral Medications

One of the newer treatments for melasma is the off-label use of oral Tranexamic acid, which is an anti-plasmin agent. There is limited investigation as to the efficacy of this drug, but new possibilities are on the horizon.

Procedures Can Be Added

Micro needling

Microdermabrasion

Chemical peels

Light therapies, including laser therapy

These are all good options for treatment of melasma in conjunction with topicals. These therapies, however, should only be performed by a trained professional or a dermatologist, so see a licensed esthetician or a dermatologist if you’re considering one of these processes.

It’s important to note that the combination of more than one of these therapies is the best way to prevent hyperpigmentation during menopause. Hormonal hyperpigmentation plus accumulated sun damage is difficult to correct once estrogen levels during menopause drop precipitously and the body can no longer control melanin production.

The best way to keep your skin looking even is with prevention through diet, and limiting sun exposure, but later in life when hormones affect the way our skin looks, there are several products available to help fade and reduce age spots. Procedures can even be added in as a third line of action to reduce the visibility of aging skin.

Age Spot Removal With Cream And Makeup

Sun damage typically is what causes age spots and while you can take measures to hide your age spots, it’s pretty hard to get rid of them completely. There is good news however, you can CONCEAL your age spots and …..

What Are Age Spots?

Age spots are brown spots or dark spots on your skin caused by an excess of melanin or pigment. Too much sun exposure causes the smaller spots to clamp together and form what looks like a more prominent spot.

They are additionally known as liver spots. The good news is that they have absolutely no connection to the liver and are not indicative of any liver disease or damage. Neither are they any indication of skin cancer or cancerous growths.

The formal name for sunspots is solar lentigines.

Where Do Age Spots Appear?

Age spots can be found all over the body, although most usual on the hands and face. Other places that they appear are on the forehead, upper arms, and occasionally on the legs.

Apart from cosmetic reasons, there is no reason to have age spot treatment removed or seek medical attention. If they don’t bother you, then you are best to leave them.

If you do want to remove your age spots, then here are several ways that you can do that:

How To Remove Age Spots With Cream

Age spot removers work by evening out your skin color so that the spots become invisible. A cream or serum won’t work for everybody as it depends on how deep your age spots are. If you are in doubt, see a dermatologist who will advise you whether a cream will be sufficient.

Which Cream Should You Choose?

It is essential that you choose the correct cream for your treatment as some will cause you to have dry skin or make your skin peel. Ingredients like hydroquinone have come under a lot of scrutinies recently. It is an organic chemical, and although there is nothing inherently wrong with it, it could cause rashes on some skin.

The main ingredient that you should avoid is mercury. Mercury is harmful to your skin, and although in many countries (including the US), it is tightly controlled, there are still removal creams on the shelves of stores that contain it. You should be able to tell by looking at the ingredients. You should avoid other ingredients as they may contain mercury: calomel, cinnabar, hydrargyri oxydum rubrum, quicksilver.

The best age spot removal creams will be of very light color and won’t contain fragrance. If you find that the color is greyish, then you are advised to avoid it.

A particularly active ingredient is niacinamide. It doesn’t dry out the skin, and the treatment works quickly. You can find our favorite age spot fading cream here.

Concealing Brown Spots With Makeup

Before applying anything to your skin, you should make sure that your skin is clear. Don’t worry about using expensive products on your face at this point. Washing with warm water and a bar of gentle soap is all that is required. When drying your skin to prep the general area, dab the area with a clean towel rather than scrubbing it.

Ensure to use SPF 15+ for sun protection

Apply a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15 in order to negate any sun damage or UV rays on damaged skin. While this will not eliminate current age spots, it might soften their appearance, and it will also stop even more skin damage. This is important for both your health and the way that you look.

You must prep your skin before applying makeup. Primer is even more essential for older women because it softens out wrinkles and fine lines, giving you a more even area to work with and giving you an extra layer, which helps conceal the age spots.

Next, apply a high-quality concealer to your age spots. Use your finger to apply the concealer, dabbing gently before using a makeup brush to blend the concealer slightly and smooth the area in general.

TIP: Use a foundation that matches your skin tone and also one that has a high SPF.

Use a foundation brush or beauty blender to apply the product and blend it over your face as required. You don’t need to pay particular attention to the age spots because you have already use concealer to cover them.

Some people like to apply powder after this step, although it’s not necessary. Your age spots should already be covered now, and your skin should already be looking much better. Carry on with your makeup routine as you usually would.

Conclusion

Taking care of your skin is so important, and getting rid of age spots will take years off your appearance and generally leave you feeling more confident in the way you look.

Is menopause doing one of these to your skin? 5 things to watch for

If you are going through menopause, you may be wondering what menopause is doing to your skin. Most women find they develop a few skin care problems during this time of their life, In fact, looking back …..

If you’re going through menopause, you may be wondering what menopause is doing to your skin. Most women find they develop a few skincare problems during this time of their life. Women often find they start experiencing skincare problems before they even enter menopause.

So, what is going on?

What Is Menopause Doing To Your Skin?

During and around the time of menopause, your hormonal balance starts to vary a great deal. The main culprit is the hormone estrogen. This is the main female sex hormone, and during menopause, it can be up one day only to hit rock bottom the next day. The result can wreak havoc in your life and will affect your skin in more ways than one.

1. Breakouts

Unfortunately, acne is NOT just for teenagers but can return at different times in your life.

It is not unusual at all for women going through menopause to suffer from acne. You may wake up one morning and find that you have broken out with pimples during the night. This is a sign that your level of estrogen is high. It is precisely what happened when you were a teenager. You can combat this problem by trying to balance your hormones. Balancing your hormones is often very individual, and there are many different ways in which you can deal with this common problem.

2. Age Spots

Age spots can appear almost anywhere on your body but tend to be on the hands and face.

While age spots are often brought on by the sun, they also start to appear en masse when women are perimenopausal. The best thing you can do is wear sunscreen every day, summer and winter, rain or shine. The other thing you should do is use a skin lightening cream to reduce the visibility of the sunspots that you do have.  Products with niacinamide reverse sun damage and minimize wrinkles and fine lines. Check out our favorite age spot fading cream here.

You can also apply a high-quality concealer to the areas that have age spots.  Use your finger to apply the concealer, dabbing gently before using a makeup brush to blend the concealer slightly and smooth the area in general. Not all concealers are created equally. I love the Dermablend Quick-Fix Full Coverage Concealer.

3. Dry Skin

You may find your skin is very dry. If you find you are suffering from dry skin, it means your estrogen level is low. As we age, less collagen is produced, and this will eventually lead to dry skin and even wrinkles. Once the level of estrogen starts to drop, this process is accelerated and can often have a sudden onset.

When you notice wrinkles, crow’s feet, or laugh lines, start using smart products that address those issues.

4. Crepey Skin

A lot of women undergoing menopause also notice what is known as “crepey skin.” This problem is often most apparent on the neck and looks like the skin is beginning to sag. This is exactly what is happening, and crepey skin is one of the most common signs of skin aging.

5. Unwanted Facial Hair

During this time, some women get unwanted facial hair. This is, of course, very concerning, and your first inclination may be to shave it off. But don’t!!! Instead, use tweezers if you just have a few. If the hair starts growing in heavier, you should consider both seeing your doctor and using a permanent hair removal system. Our Smoother Skin Laser is an at-home treatment you can do for under $100.

Conclusion

There is a range of solutions out there for you, and you want to check them out as soon as you notice the first sign of problems with your skin. The sooner you go to work and start to support your skin actively, the sooner you’ll be looking and feeling your best.

At What Age is Skin “Mature”? (You May Be Surprised)

When it comes to aging skin, we’re all concerned about maintaining that youthful glow. You may be wondering at what age skin is considered “mature.” The surprising answer is that skin …..

When it comes to aging skin, we’re all concerned about maintaining that youthful glow. You may be wondering at what age skin is considered “mature.” The surprising answer is that skin starts to age on a cellular level between 25-30 in women.

Your skin doesn’t age immediately over night but you may start to notice some changes. The first sign of mature skin can be a lack of elasticity and increased dryness. Even if you have more oily skin, you may start to notice these symptoms. What exactly causes our skin to become mature? Interestingly enough, there are four processes that occur at varying ages that cause these skin changes.

Decreased Antioxidant Production

This is the first process in yoru body to decline. We always talk about getting antioxidants from our diets but your body makes its own antioxidants as well. Skin is prone to damage at any time but as you age, you should use more products with antioxidants. Examples include vitamin C, vitamin E, fruit acids, green tea extract and many more.

Decreased Collagen Production

Collagen allows your skin to maintain a firmness and forms a framework. When you have poor collagen production, you may notice a loss of elasticity. In practical terms, you skin just looks tired. As your cells age, they start to produce less collagen although this process happens differently in each person.

  1. Increased Cellular SenescenceThis process is fairly complicated and usually happens when you reach the age of 40. In laymans terms, the natural life cycle of skin cells is arrested which affects complexion in many ways. Skincare ingredients such as retinol, peptides, and glycolic acid become more important. They work to jump-start cell processes that are lagging.
  2. Decreased Skin Barrier Function

Your skin plays an important role of absorbing moisture and holding moisture in your cells. When you age, the skin barrier weakens which makes skin dry and less able to hold hydration on its own. This is a time when you may need rich moisturizers to maintain good hydration. This is a lot of information to process! The main takeaway is that using the right skincare products along with a healthy diet and exercise will help you to maintain youthful looking skin throughout your life.

The Moment You Look Old

You may still be wondering when these internal changes become visible. There’s no set time but it will depend on your race and lifestyle. Caucasian women start to notice significant changes in their skin around their late 30s. For women of color, this time is pushed back to their 40s. Darker skin tones often have less sun damage and a different genetic structure.

Hope for Mature Skin

Maybe you’ve already noticed some signs of aging in your skin. If you’re concerned about mature skin, you don’t have to give up hope. Instead, treat your skin with an anti-aging care regimen to keep it nurtured throughout your life. Eating a diet high in antioxidants, exercising regularly, and having a good skincare routine all keep you on track for a youthful glow.

Drinking Alcohol Could Be Ruining Your Skin

Does Drinking Alcohol Affect Your Skin? Yes, it does. I hate to be so direct with you, but I would rather tell you the truth. It does not matter how much fun you derive from drinking alcohol, the truth is that it is bad for your skin……

So, what does alcohol do to your skin?

1. Dehydration & dry dull-looking skin

Alcohol, as a diuretic, causes you to produce more urine than you should. You urinate about 120 milliliters more urine than normal for every shot of alcohol you drink. This is a lot of liquid lost. This loss of body fluids causes dryness of the skin and gives you a dry, tired look. It is likely to adversely affect young, glowing skin.

2. Risk factor for rosacea

This one goes to all wine and liquor lovers. Your favorite drink could soon bring about this scary skin condition. Once you have contracted rosacea, your skin will begin to blush and flush, then gradually result in disfiguring of the face.

3. Spots and odor

Drinking exerts unnecessary pressure on the liver as it tries to get rid of the toxins and rebalance the body’s metabolism. When the liver cannot keep up anymore, some of the alcohol begins excreting in sweat. The result is body odor and ugly spots that are hard to remove.

4. Inflammation

Another way alcohol affects the skin is by making your face look puffy and bloated. Also, you might notice some cellulite issues that come with drinking behavior.

What should you do?

The good news is that you can disarm alcohol of its cruelty. It begins with the realization that it is indeed possible. Here is what you can do to save your skin:

1. Quit drinking alcohol

Quitting is the simplest and most practical advice I can give. Even if you are not concerned about your skin, quitting alcohol will save other vital organs, including your brain, heart, liver, and kidneys.

2. Cut down on certain drinks

While it is true that alcohol is not good for your skin, not all drinks pose the same amount or extent of harm to the skin. The best drink to consume, believe it or not, is bubbly! Sparkling wine (Champagne) is not only the lowest in calories but also does the least amount of damage to the skin.

3. Pace yourself at the party

If you are planning to drink, pace yourself, and drink a glass of water in between each glass of alcohol.

4. Eat healthy

Since the skin is a regenerative organ, it is possible to undo some of the damage it sustains. One major way of rejuvenating alcohol-stressed skin is by adopting a healthy diet. Start investing some of your time to research the foods that are best for the skin. Supplement your diet with vitamin-rich food like vegetables, and drink more water every day.

5. Exercise

Excercise might function as a replacement activity for the time you spend drinking. Exercise also can turn our attention to how we look. This, in turn, helps us be more aware of our habits. People who exercise often will always look for ways to look even better.

6. Treat your skin right!

While alcohol may dehydrate your skin, you can partially replenish it with the right skincare routine. Look for a moisturizer that is super hydrating and then for serums that will brighten your skin. This is super important since alcohol does tend to leave you with dull skin.
